The Société récréotouristique de Desbiens is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1977 and operating 2 natural sites in the Lac-Saint-Jean region. Activities from these 2 recreational and tourist products are conducted in 3 municipalities: Desbiens, Chambord and Saint-André. The Camping Plage Blanchet (recreational vocation) and Trou de la Fée Cavern (tourist vocation) spread over 2 RCM territories, Lac-Saint-Jean-Est and Domaine-du-Roy.
The Société récréotouristique de Desbiens self-finances its activities from operating revenues from the 2 sites it manages. Today, it groups over 100 members and its activities take place from June to September. During this period, the Société employs over 20 individuals, mainly students coming from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and Cégep de Saint-Félicien.
To better meet the expectations of visitors and new trends in the field of tourism, the Société récréotouristique de Desbiens initiated an ambitious development plan in the Spring of 2006. It is thus over $5 million that will be invested on the Camping Plage Blanchet and Trou de la Fée Cavern sites during the next five years.
Through these major investments, the Société will occupy a more important place on the regional tourist industry scene.
The Société récréotouristique de Desbiens, a major player in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean tourist industry.
